First on to the popular press ... "nano" is most commonly used along with "technology" in the word "nanothechnology" - the next in-thing ... the cutting edge of modern development ... the driving force of future ... nice association for a car that is touted as a paradigm shift (yes i am licensed to use the "p" word) in auto industry ... gives you the feeling that TATA Nano is capable of being the driving force for the masses that will make India's future
Not to leave the actual meaning of the word ... its a prefix that means one billionth ... with India's population being a little more than a billion ... one billionth is just the right fraction for each person and his/her car ...
Now to my favorite ... Nano sound so much like " नन्हूँ" ("nanhu") ... the everyday coo-chi-coo hindustani word that means - small and cute ... bang-on target for the car ...

Name is good the concept good...but from the past experience with Tata cars am not sure if it will live up to the buzz created around it. Its a car aimed at the bottom of the pyramid...dont know wht kind of compromises tatas would be making to keep the cost to 1 lakh....for starters try to drive a 2 year old tata indica that will give you a flavor of what life can be inside the nano...i am happy for all the people who would now be able to buy the car ( thought scared about the effect it will have on city roads) but at the same time i have a sneaky feeling that they will be getting a raw deal
Alam bhai, don't know whether the car will be a hit or not, but liked your name for the car. Makes more sense for the Indian market and probably this is the name with which they should go in the Hindi Heartland ;-)
